Ashtanga Yoga Workshop for Beginners 

(and not that beginners)

Join us at Casa Yoga Studio in Lyall Bay for a 3-class workshop introducing the fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga. 

This course is perfect for:

– Those new to Ashtanga Yoga or Yoga in general

– Practitioners of other yoga styles and curious about Ashtanga

– Ashtanga practitioners looking to refine their understanding of the method

Course Overview

Over three classes, we’ll cover:

You’re clarifying the Tristana components:

1. *Ujjayi breathing*: breathwork

2. *Bandha technique*: energy locks

3. *Drishti*: gaze technique for concentration

These three elements work together to help practitioners focus, balance energy, and cultivate inner awareness in their Ashtanga Yoga practice.

– Tristana: Ujjayi breathing, breathwork, bandha technique, energy locks, drishti (gaze and concentration)

– Sun salutations, foundation asanas, and its correct vinyasa

– A taste of the first half of the primary series

– Some light on the vinyasa technique, Mysore style (a traditional method of Ashtanga Yoga practice, where students practice at their own pace)

– Developing finishing asana sequence

– Relaxation and Yoga Nidra (a sleep relaxation technique)

Course Details:

– Dates: Tuesday, May 27 (6 pm), Thursday, May 29 (6 pm), and Saturday, May 31 (11 am)

– Duration: First two classes, 1 hour; last class, 1 hour 15 minutes

– Maximum 7 students per class

– Cost: $115
